Media personality Kamene Goro has emotionally opened up about a harrowing near-death experience during a past hospital admission, revealing that she spent 36 days in the hospital and at one point was given only 12 hours to live.

The former radio host disclosed that doctors were forced to perform an emergency procedure that ultimately saved her life. In a vulnerable revelation, Kamene described her time in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as  traumatic, noting that many of the patients admitted alongside her did not survive. She emerged as the sole survivor from her ICU ward, an experience she says fundamentally changed her outlook on life, loyalty, and relationships.

Perhaps most striking was Kamene’s revelation regarding her husband, DJ Bonez. She disclosed that during this critical period of her life, her husband was notably absent from her bedside. According to Kamene, DJ Bonez later explained that it was “too hard” for him to see her in such a fragile condition. “I was alone on Valentine’s Day,” Kamene shared. “My mum, my sister, and her boyfriend were restless. My husband said it was hard for him.”

She also expressed disappointment about certain friends who, despite being informed of her condition, never visited. “Some friends I told actually never came, and they said they couldn’t afford to see me in that state,” she added.

During her hospitalisation, Kamene’s mother faced financial strain while trying toraise money for mounting medical bills. At one point, her mother reached out to an individual who owed Kamene money, only to be blocked by that person.

Amid the darkness, Kamene recalled a moment of light: waking up to find fellow media personality Jalang’o and her emotional mother by her side. She described this as a moment she will never forget.
