Bolt Plus Subscription Offers 10% Cashback and Free Delivery from Ksh 280 Monthly
Bolt has introduced Bolt Plus, a subscription plan starting at Ksh 280 per month, offering Kenyan customers exclusive savings and priority perks across ride-hailing and food delivery.
The move positions the mobility company within a growing trend where consumers increasingly pay for digital services they use daily.
Bolt Plus is tailored for frequent users. Members receive 10% cashback on every ride, credited to their Bolt Balance for future trips. They also enjoy free delivery on qualifying food and retail orders, priority driver matching, quicker food delivery and three free ride cancellations each month.
New subscribers get the first month at no cost, while an annual plan costs KES 899. As part of the launch, customers can sign up at an introductory rate of KES 119 monthly for the first six months.

The launch reflects shifting consumer habits in Kenya. Communications Authority of Kenya data shows active mobile subscriptions hit 84.1 million in the third quarter of FY2025/26, a 7.4% quarterly rise. Mobile broadband usage reached 800 million GB, up 6%, with average consumption climbing from 14.6GB to 15.1GB per subscription. Mobile money subscriptions rose to 53.4 million, representing 100.1% penetration.
Research by the Media Council of Kenya supports this trend. It’s Navigating the Digital Reality 26 study found that 67.1% of respondents frequently encounter payment mechanisms on digital platforms, while 45.8% pay for Kenyan digital content. The study notes that paid digital experiences are becoming normalised, though affordability and perceived value remain key concerns.
Ivy Njeri Maingi, Bolt Food General Manager in Kenya, said the subscription was built around what loyal customers actually do. “A subscription only works when the customer can see the value in it,” she said. “For KES 280 a month, customers get 10% cashback on every ride, savings on delivery fees, faster matching, priority delivery and greater flexibility. The value is felt from the first ride or order.”
Bolt Plus members benefit from free delivery on eligible orders marked with a “+” in the app, saving up to KES 200 per order. Orders are prioritised for faster arrival. Rides earn 5-10% cashback, and priority pick-ups reduce wait times during peak demand. The three monthly free cancellations give users flexibility without penalties.
Bolt now operates in nine Kenyan cities, with Bolt Food partnering over 2,000 restaurants and retail outlets. More than 2,500 courier partners support millions of annual deliveries. Bolt Plus is available through the Bolt and Bolt Food apps.
