Bolt Named Among Kenya’s Top 10 Strongest Brands in 2026 Superbrands Ranking

Bolt, one of the leading ride-hailing platforms in Kenya, has been recognised as one of the country’s Top 10 strongest brands in the 2026 Superbrands ranking. The company secured eighth place nationally, cementing its position as a standout name in the travel, transport and ride-hailing space.

The recognition places Bolt in an exclusive group of local and international brands praised for their quality, reliability and distinctiveness. The ranking follows independent consumer research carried out by global market research firm Kantar.

In the 2026 results, Bolt earned a Superbrands score of 88.786. Consumers gave the platform 9.08 for quality, 9.14 for distinction and 8.79 for reliability. Bolt also recorded an awareness score of 78%.

The ranking comes at a time when Kenyan consumers are placing more value on trust and reputation when choosing what to buy. Research released alongside the rankings by Superbrands East Africa found that 86% of Kenyan consumers are likely to purchase products or services that carry the Superbrands seal. Another 84% said the recognition would make them trust a brand more, while 85% said it would encourage them to consider buying a product or trying a new service.

Jawad Jaffer, Project Director and Associate Publisher at Superbrands East Africa, said Kenyan consumers have plenty of brands to choose from, but what really matters is whether a brand keeps its promises. He noted that quality, reliability and distinction remain at the heart of buying decisions, and that businesses must earn consumer trust consistently through brand building, not just advertising.

Dimmy Kanyankole, Senior General Manager for Rides East Africa at Bolt, said being named among Kenya’s Top 10 strongest brands is a major milestone and a reflection of the trust customers have placed in the platform. He added that a strong brand is built through more than visibility it is earned through the experiences delivered every day. The recognition, he said, reinforces Bolt’s commitment to providing reliable, quality services while improving how it serves riders and supports the driver and courier partners who make the platform possible.

The 2026 Superbrands study looked at brands across 112 categories, with consumers rating familiar brands on three key attributes: quality, reliability and distinction. These measures assess whether a brand delivers quality products and services, performs consistently and stands out from competitors.

According to Keith Pere and Wetindi Patrick, Project Leads at Kantar Insights EA, brands that perform strongly are those that meet consumers’ practical and emotional needs while offering something meaningfully different from competitors.

Jaffer added that what makes Superbrands recognition meaningful is that it reflects the experiences and perceptions of consumers themselves. A strong brand, he said, is not simply one that people recognise, but one that has earned their trust. The recognition acknowledges the reputation businesses have built in the minds of consumers and the importance of continually earning and maintaining that confidence.

The research also shows how much brand reputation influences consumer choices. While 81% of respondents believe the Superbrands seal helps brands stand out from competitors, an equal share said it helps them identify leading brands in their categories. Consumers are still mindful of value, however, with 63% saying they would consider paying a higher price for a brand carrying the seal.

Willingness to recommend brands with the Superbrands seal has also improved, with the Net Promoter Score rising from 10 in 2024 to 31 in 2026. Bolt’s place in the Top 10 reflects its standing in a competitive market and the importance of continually earning consumer confidence through the services and experiences it delivers.
