JESUS GIRL INJURED IN MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT AFTER RECENT RELAPSE
YouTuber Dora Obwaka, aka Jesus Girl, has opened up on a recent accident that almost left her with an orbital blowout fracture on her left eye while she was drunk.
Through a social media post on Instagram, the content creator shared her photo after the horrid accident and narrated the incident to her fans, expressing gratitude to God for saving her life in what could have easily led to permanent facial disfigurement or even death.
“God can turn it! I’ve never been one to shy off from sharing my testimonies, but this one, I must admit has been one that hasn’t been all too easy to share for many reasons, but the Lord has been pressing it on my heart, and even if it’s for one soul it will all be worth it. This picture was taken on the 12th of May. The result of my injuries was a motorbike accident in which I was thrown off face first. I was intoxicated at the time and had been for a number of days continually,” she wrote in part.
Jesus Girl confessed that the past months have been nothing but a very difficult moment for her because she had to deal with depression and anxiety attacks that made her turn to drug abuse. She also revealed that she tried to commit suicide to escape the torment that the world had brought against her, hinting that she was also in a toxic relationship that pushed her further into the dark alley.
“The last many months have been the most difficult of my life. Dealing with anxiety and depression. It seemed like there would be no end. Life seemed hopeless, and everything had lost its meaning. Nothing could bring me joy. The only way I knew how to numb the pain was through getting high and being with a guy I knew I had no business being with.
Those were my comforts. My way of ‘breathing.’ However, the longer I continued to engage in those areas, the more lost I found myself and the harder life seemed to get. My spirit and soul were dying. My being was crying out. I was at the end of myself and even contemplated ending it all.“
Hopefully, for Dora, before taking her life, she decided to surrender to Christ and allow God to take control of her life which was taking a threatening turn. Now, she says she is born again, and she doesn’t regret it because she is living a happier life.
“Since then, I have experienced healing beyond words. I can’t explain how God has met me. I have a peace I haven’t felt in the longest time. I have joy and gladness. I have a purpose. I am a firm believer that God is able to do as His Word says ‘ABOVE all we could ever ask, think, or imagine.’ So many good things have happened since, and I can’t wait to share!“
In 2020, Dora shared her story with drugs stating that it all began as an experiment when she was still in high school, but the habit turned out to be an addiction that affected her life and family as it progressed from soft to hard drugs.
“My first encounter with drugs was when I was 17 in my last year of high school. I was at a phase where I was finding myself. I started experimenting with alcohol, which wasn’t something out of the ordinary or peculiar within my age group. I slowly started smoking cigarettes and marijuana, and the combination of all became a newfound high.” She said.
After completing her high school studies, she joined McNally Smith College of Music in Minnesota, US, but dropped out as soon as she had joined because she was not attending classes due to addiction. She came back to Kenya and was enrolled at Daystar University to study Communications, but she was soon in the same predicament again, or even worse, as she started using marijuana laced with heroin.
By the time she was hitting 22, she had already been enrolled twice at rehab centers. Fortunately, she managed to recover successfully before 2021 but relapsed again. Now, she is glad that she will be sober in 2022.
