BEATRICE SAKAJA OPENS UP ON THE CHALLENGES OF BEING GOVERNOR’S WIFE

Governor Johnson Sakaja’s wife Beatrice, has talked about being married to a politician. 

Speaking on Hey Mama podcast, the First Lady of Nairobi county said she never realised her husband would be too busy, “The marriage and children started when he had begun politics. My firstborn was one year old when he was a nominated MP. I never realised how busy he was until he got busier. When he became the governor it was crazy. I remember thinking finally we can relax after the elections and all that. 

Sometimes I joke that I am the only one who has proof of life. Everybody just smells him. It is difficult to compare it with my childhood where my dad was present. I don’t begrudge my husband’s inability to come home and sit with the kids for dinner.”

The mother of two also disclosed that she doesn’t read news about her family online, “I like to live my cocooned life and it’s fairly easy for me as an adult to just avoid news or information that I don’t want to read about. My friends and family know they shouldn’t send that to me.

But I forgot my children don’t live in that cocoon. They might not go looking for that information but their friends do. I realised I can’t shield them from that life. I have to sit them down and give them information straight as it is.”
