‘WE SPENT SH300,000 ON OUR WEDDING’ BIEN REVEALS

Bien-Aimé Baraza, one of the members of Kenya’s award-winning band Sauti Sol, shared exclusive details about his low-key wedding with his long-time partner, Chiki Kuruka, which took place in 2020.

Unlike most celebrity weddings, Bien and Chiki opted for a simple yet elegant ceremony. The couple tied the knot in a modest ceremony of just 50 guests

The couple went at the Attorney General’s office, followed by an intimate lunch celebration in Lavington. “We spent around Sh300,000 in total. Our guests enjoyed a five-course meal and an open bar, all fully covered. No one had to pay for anything.”

To maintain a personal and private atmosphere, the couple requested no phones at the event and sent out invites just two days before the wedding. “We sent invites on Wednesday for the Friday wedding because we didn’t want any gifts, and we didn’t want my parents to come with a bus full of relatives from Kakamega,Bien humorously shared.

Renowned artists Nameless and Nyashinski performed at the celebration. Reflecting on their decision, Bien said that he and Chiki preferred to focus on building a better future together rather than spending excessively on one day. “Me and my girlfriend decided we want to spent on a better future and not for one day.
