WRESTLING LEGEND HULK HOGAN PASSES AWAY AT 71
Terry Bollea, the legendary professional wrestler known worldwide as Hulk Hogan, has died at the age of 71, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) confirmed on Thursday.
Hogan is celebrated as one of the most influential figures in wrestling history, transforming WWE into the global phenomenon it is today. His charismatic persona, both inside and outside the ring, turned him into a pop culture icon during the 1980s and 1990s, earning him fame beyond wrestling with appearances in films and widespread recognition.
In a statement posted on X, WWE announced his passing, “WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture’s most recognisable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans.”
Authorities in Clearwater, Florida, reported that emergency responders were called to Hulk’s residence following a cardiac arrest incident. Fire and rescue teams provided immediate medical assistance before transporting him to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. TMZ initially broke the news of his passing.
During a press briefing, police stated there were no indications of foul play, though an investigation remains open. Hogan’s signature catchphrases like flexing his “24-inch pythons” and urging fans to “say your prayers and eat your vitamins” cemented his status as a central figure in wrestling’s 1980s “golden era.”
His electrifying feuds with legends such as “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, André the Giant, and “Macho Man” Randy Savage propelled professional wrestling into a billion-dollar industry, leaving an indelible mark on sports entertainment.
