RAILA JR PAYS TRIBUTE AT FIDEL ODINGA ROAD IN MOMBASA
Raila Odinga Jr visited the signage for Fidel Odinga Road at the Kengeleni Junction in Nyali, Mombasa. The road stands as a permanent tribute to his elder brother, the late Fidel Castro Odinga, who passed away in January 2015.
Accompanied by local well-wishers, Raila Jr documented the emotional visit, stating, “Leo nimepitia Fidel Odinga Road, Kengeleni junction Nyali kupiga picha na nikagoteana na mandugu zangu. God bless. Mungu Mbele. #KengeleniJunction.” (Today I passed by Fidel Odinga Road, Kengeleni junction Nyali, to take pictures and greeted my brothers. God bless. God first.)
This public tribute comes after his sister, Winnie Odinga, the last born of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, reflected on Fidel’s loss. Speaking on the ‘Iko Nini’ podcast, Winnie opened up about grief, stating that one does not simply “get over” such a tragedy. “You do not get over it, it is just something you learn to live with,” Winnie shared. “There are tough times… when some people are playing with me. And I am just like ‘if my brother was here you would be done’. But it is a difficult thing losing a sibling.”
