CHURCHILL SHOW DRAMA: OGA OBINNA OPENS UP ABOUT INTERVIEW DISPUTE

Popular content creator Oga Obinna has shed light on dispute with comedian Churchill, revealing that he was denied access to footage from an interview he conducted with the veteran comedian, despite a prior agreement.

While recounting of events, Obinna explained that the issue began when he was invited to appear on Churchill’s My Story segment. The agreement was mutually beneficial: Obinna would sit for My Story, and in return, he would also interview Churchill for his own platform, the Kula Kula Show.

The recording session took place at Eka Hotel, where both segments were filmed back-to-back using Churchill’s production crew and cameras. According to Obinna, the session went well, with Churchill himself praising the content.

I told him the interview is nice. It’s inspirational. It had a lot of information that I didn’t know before,‘” Obinna recalled. “He assured me I would get the footage.”

However, the situation took a turn when Obinna attempted to retrieve the footage from the producer, despite repeated calls and even a personal visit to the studio at Garden City, the producer refused to hand over the footage, citing instructions from above. “I drove all the way to the office. I’m like, ‘Tell me to my face if it’s so,‘” Obinna said. “The guy’s like, ‘Ah, I’ve been told not to allow you to have the footage. It’s exclusive to us.’”

In response, Obinna made it clear that if he could not air his interview with Churchill, then Churchill should not air the My Story episode featuring him. He left the studio under that understanding. Days later, Obinna was shocked to find that his episode had been uploaded to YouTube and was already gaining traction. “I was very angry,” he admitted.

The following morning, I confronted Churchill at the station. I told him, ‘I did an interview with you. I was told you’ve not allowed me to have the footage, and I told your director not to air mine. But now they’ve aired mine.‘” According to Obinna, Churchill immediately made a phone call and instructed that the episode be taken down. Shortly after, the video was removed.

To date, Obinna has never aired the interview he conducted with Churchill, and he remains critical of the producer involved. “I don’t like the guy until today,” Obinna stated. “We had an agreement, and it was broken. Everything happens for a reason, but that experience has stayed with me.”

Even after falling out, Obinna left the door open for a future collaboration, noting that he and Churchill have since had conversations and that “maybe it will happen again, maybe it will not.”
