Arsenal Fans Flood The Streets of Nairobi Celebrating Premier League Title
For two decades, hope had become a cruel habit. But on Sunday afternoon, May 24, 2026 Nairobi’s Central Business District transformed into a sea of red as thousands of Kenyan Arsenal fans spilled onto the streets not just to celebrate a title, but to exorcise 22 years of near-misses, heartbreaks, and “next year” promises.
Dressed in vintage and modern Arsenal jerseys, waving flags from every corner of the city, the faithful painted the capital crimson. What began as scattered chants outside sports bars soon swelled into a roaring procession along major thoroughfares, bringing matatus and motorists to a halt. But for once, no one honked in anger. Even stranded commuters smiled.
Vuvuzelas blared atop matatu roofs. Young men danced on moving motorcycles. Elderly fans sat on curbs, heads in hands not in despair, but in disbelief that the wait was finally over. Some wept openly. Others laughed until their voices cracked.
The celebrations rippled far beyond Nairobi. From Kisumu to Mombasa, from Nakuru to Eldoret, Arsenal supporters poured into streets, pubs, and local entertainment joints, hugging strangers and singing old songs rewritten for this new reality the 2025-26 Premier League crown, won after a gruelling, fiercely contested campaign.
Across Africa, the echoes were the same: President William Ruto, himself a known Arsenal admirer said, “Our dreams may be deferred, but never extinguished,” he said. “The journey may be long, but the destination doesn’t shift. Meaningful struggle will always be hard, and important work difficult. But we are determined, dedicated, and disciplined. Therefore, our focus and consistency will take us to the finish line. To win, we must do our work and live our lives with the mentality of champions.”
He added: “Congratulations to @Arsenal, and thank you for exemplifying resilience and consistency. Let’s do it again soon.“
