The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has overruled the suspension of Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed and other National Executive Committee (NEC) members.

In a letter dated May 25, FIFA’s Chief Member Associations Officer, Elkhan Mammadov, made the global body’s position clear. According to FIFA, the suspension process violated Article 41 of the FKF Constitution, which strictly outlines how officials may be provisionally dismissed.

FIFA declared the suspensions of Mohammed, acting Secretary General Dennis Gicheru, and nominated NEC member Abdulahi Yusuf Ibrahim as invalid.

FIFA said that any suspension must be properly proposed, placed on the agenda, communicated to NEC members, meet quorum and voting requirements, and allow the affected official a fair hearing. FIFA also warned that ordering an official to “step aside” as a mandatory directive legally constitutes a provisional suspension under the constitution. Actions taken outside the statutory framework, FIFA added, cannot produce valid legal effects.
