President Ruto Invites Arsenal to Kenya After Premier League Win
President William Ruto has officially invited English Premier League champions Arsenal Football Club to visit Kenya, following the club’s recent league triumph that triggered massive celebrations across the country.
The Head of State made the remarks during an interview with Reuters on the G7 Summit currently underway in France. He expressed astonishment at the scale of the festivities that erupted in Nairobi and other parts of Kenya after Arsenal ended their lengthy wait for the Premier League title. “I was shocked in Nairobi. Arsenal finally closed the gap, and it was a huge celebration.” President Ruto told Reuters.
The President revealed that the overwhelming excitement displayed by Kenyan fans has prompted him to pursue the possibility of hosting the North London giants in the country as early as next year. “I am trying to see whether sometime next year Arsenal can come to Kenya. I have sent an invitation because I think it would be a great moment for Arsenal to come to Kenya. They have great fans,” he stated.
Kenya boasts one of the most passionate and largest Arsenal supporter bases on the African continent. Devoted fans, commonly referred to as “Gooners,” regularly converge in major towns and cities to watch matches, creating an electric atmosphere that rivals that of the Emirates Stadium itself.
