Actor Brian Kabugi Pays Emotional Tribute as Mother Lucy Macharia is Laid to Rest

Family, friends, and the entertainment fraternity gathered to bid a final farewell to Lucy Macharia, mother of Kenyan actor Brian Kabugi, who was laid to rest following a prolonged illness.

The actor’s mother passed away after a difficult health battle that left the family with a mounting hospital bill of Sh3.8 million. The bill was fully cleared on June 24, 2026, following support from Kenyans across the country. “We woke up to the incredible news that Lucy’s hospital bill has been fully cleared,” Kabugi announced at the time. “Thank you to everyone who contributed, shared, prayed, and supported us. Your kindness and generosity have carried us through one of the hardest seasons of our lives.“

In an emotional tribute shared on the day of her burial, the actor poured out his heart, “My mother may no longer be with me, but I still have my brothers, my family both from birth and the chosen, my community, my craft, my art, and myself,” Kabugi wrote. “I don’t know what the rest of my life will look like without her, but I do know that, somehow, I’ll be okay. Rest well, Mum. I love you, always. ❤️”

The family had also planned a fundraiser concert but later postponed it, “Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support. Following the postponement of our fundraiser concert, the Kodong Klan team has been working behind the scenes to secure a new date with all the artists.
