Samsung Equips Young Kenyans with Content Creation Skills Through the Street Photography Experience
Samsung Electronics East Africa has brought together aspiring photographers, videographers, digital creators and digital storytellers for the Samsung Street Photography Challenge, an initiative aimed at equipping young creators with practical content creation skills while demonstrating how mobile technology can unlock creativity and opportunity.
The initiative brought together young creators from Nairobi for a hands-on learning experience that combined training with practical photography sessions in the city’s Central Business District. Using the Galaxy A27, Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A57, participants learned how to create high quality visual content using the smartphones they already carry every day.
As more young Kenyans turn to digital platforms to build businesses, find employment and earn an income through content creation, Samsung continues to invest in programs that give them the skills and technology needed to succeed.
The training featured renowned mobile photographer Edwin Waweru, who took participants through the fundamentals of mobile photography, including composition, lighting, framing and visual storytelling. Participants also learned how to capture compelling images in everyday environments and use their smartphones to tell authentic stories.
Content creator and host of the Iko Nini Podcast, Mwafreeka, also engaged participants on how smartphones have transformed content creation. He shared practical insights on building an audience, creating engaging content consistently and turning creativity into career opportunities using social media platforms.

Throughout the training, participants explored how Galaxy A Series devices support everyday content creation through features such as Nightography for clearer low-light photography, AI-powered editing tools such as Object Eraser for cleaner images, and Optical Image Stabilisation for smoother videos. These capabilities allow creators to spend less time editing and more time focusing on telling meaningful stories.
Brenda Nakhulo, Head of Marketing, Mobile experience, Samsung Electronics East Africa, said the initiative reflects Samsung’s commitment to equipping young people with the skills and technology they need to thrive in today’s digital world.
“At Samsung, we believe technology should do more than connect. The creator economy is opening new doors for young people across Kenya, and we want to ensure they have access to the skills, knowledge and innovation needed to succeed. Through initiatives like the Street Photography Challenge, we are empowering the next generation of creators to turn their passion into purpose and their creativity into opportunity.“
The Street Photography Challenge forms part of Samsung’s broader commitment to empowering young people through technology. Beyond developing digital skills, the initiative seeks to encourage innovation, nurture creative talent and create pathways for more young Kenyans to participate in the country’s fast-growing creator economy.
By combining practical training with accessible mobile technology, Samsung continues to demonstrate how innovation can help unlock opportunities for the next generation of creators, entrepreneurs and digital storytellers.
