Charlene Ruto Opens Up About Koito Dress Emergency and the Designer Who Came to Her Rescue

In a touching tribute, Charlene Ruto has credited her mother, First Lady Rachel Ruto, as the force behind the seamless execution of her recent traditional engagement and farewell ceremony.

Following the high-profile Koito ak Chaik ceremony held on Saturday, August 8, at the Ruto family’s Intonna Heritage Farm in Kilgoris, Narok County, Charlene took to described her mother as the event planner, acknowledging the sleepless nights invested to bring her dream day to life.

“My mama was my everything as I planned my koito ak chaik,“ Charlene wrote. “I only lifted a finger to share ideas, approve designs and conclude discussions. She is the one who spent sleepless nights, sat in long meetings and executed my dream so that I could have a perfect day! I am so blessed. Thank you Mama!!” .

In a separate revelation addressing online conversations about her attire, Charlene disclosed a last-minute wardrobe emergency. Her original dress did not work out as planned, prompting an intervention by Kenyan fashion brand House of Zippy. “I don’t know how she did it but she delivered my first dress in a day after my original one did not work out,” Charlene shared .

She explained that the designer had, years prior, promised to make her wedding dress when the time came. “Years ago though, she had said she would do my wedding dress and here we are,” she added, offering public appreciation: “Thank you @houseofzippy for the love and dedication you poured into my koito dress” .

The President offered prayer for their union. “Today, Mama Rachel Ruto and I celebrate with grateful hearts as our daughter Charlene begins a beautiful new chapter with her fiancé, Isaya Yunge,” the President said.
