By  |

Legendary reggae singer, Neville O’Riley Livingston also known as Bunny Wailer has died at the age of 73.

His manager, Maxine Stowe, confirmed that he died on Tuesday at the Medical Associates Hospital in Kingston, Jamaica. Wailer had been in and out of the hospital since suffering his second stroke, in 2020.

Bunny was a founding member of The Wailers. He was the youngest of the three original Wailers. The other two band members were Bob Marley and Peter Tosh.

The group formed in Trench Town during the early 1960’s. They had a number of hit songs such as Simmer Down, Lonesome Feeling and Thank You Lord.

A three-time Grammy Award winner, he is considered one of the long-time standard-bearers of reggae music. In 2017, he was conferred with the Order of Merit (OM), the fourth-highest honour in Jamaica, for his contribution to popular music.
