REASON PRESIDENT UHURU DID NOT SIT NEXT TO GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AT THE UB40 CONCERT

By  |

Former State House Director of Brand Strategy and Events Thomas Kwaka aka Big Ted has talked about his event UB40 Concert that happened two years ago and was attended by President Uhuru. Speaking in an interview, Big Ted says he was surprised when the president called him to inquire about the concert.

My latest show was two years ago, Astro who passed away and Ali Campbell, my boss, UB40 is his favourite group, he calls me and asks me, ‘Are sure this is UB40 coming?’ and I told him yeah. He goes like, ‘I must come for that show.’ Do you know what that felt like? For your boss to tell you he is coming for your show, and not only your boss, the presidentGod has given me grace which many people will never get to understand and that’s why for me regardless of whatever anybody says for me God has been good to me. The things that I have gone through or experienced guys will never experience in their lives.”

Big Ted added on the day of the event, the president arrived 10 minutes early and requested not to be seated next to government officials, “The president showed up on my show, he called and I told him we start at 8pm, 7:50pm he was outside the gate. I pick him up and he tells me, ‘I don’t want anybody next to me, I don’t want government guys, I want to enjoy this show.” He enjoys the show and after he asked me if he could take a picture with them, we took him backstage. For me that was a dream.”

The following day, the president asked Big Ted to bring the musicians to his house, “The next day he calls and he goes like, ‘bring these guys to my digs.’ We go there and we hang out with him and the group like boys. I think that was a great farewell to Astro.”
