‘I SAID WHAT I SAID’ CAROLINE MUTOKO RESPONDS TO KOT BACKLASH OVER MATATUS ON EXPRESSWAY

By  |

Media personality Caroline Mutoko is standing her ground over her comment that matatus should not be allowed on the expressway. In a new tweet Mutoko said, “I did not stutter. I said what I said.”

The Kiss 100 programmes controller has been on the receiving end of the rage of Kenyans on Twitter (KOT), over a comment she made about matatus using the Nairobi Expressway that rubbed many the wrong way. The drama began when Mutoko took to her Twitter handle to comment on a video of an accident at the Expressway toll station at Mlolongo, “Wait…we now have matatus on the expressway? Courting trouble.” She wrote

Netizens were not pleased with her commented and shared their opinions: “It’s clear you don’t know 60% of people who live in Nairobi walk to work, 35% use public transport (matatus), and only 5% of them use cars and that the biggest share of cars on the roads are government owned. So according to you only 5% should use the Nairobi Expressway?” Alinur Mohamed commented.

I will not blame Caroline Mutoko for discriminatory tweet (out of tune) in what the #ExpressPain aka Nairobi Expressway is actually known for – its a faster route for the rich. @JamesMacharia_ ‘s companies @mojaexpressway and @KeNHAKenya have refused to conduct public education!” Said Stephen Mutoro.

The matatus that you’re looking down upon pay 1200/=per trip while the max you pay is 390 /=. Matatus can do 3 expressway trips meaning 1200×3=3600. Which makes more economic sense? The 1st accident was a personal car. Let drivers be disciplined. That’s all,” Navon Odeny added.
