MISS TRUDY FACES BACKLASH FROM UGANDANS FOLLOWING INSENSITIVE COMMENT

By  |

Kenyan travel vlogger Miss Trudy has found herself at the centre of a Twitter storm after making insensitive comments.

After her visit at a Ugandan park, Miss Trudy tweeted that she was not aware there were national parks in Uganda, “Uganda has surprised me today! I did not know they also have game drives in Uganda! I thought that these are only in Kenya and Tanzania. We spent the evening watching Antelopes, Giraffes, zebras, warthogs, water bucks and Hippos. Who would have thought? #Perlofafrica #Uganda #Africa.”

A section of Ugandans were offended and accused her of being ignorant.

Bash Mutumba Haha! She is just mocking us I guess. There’s obviously many National Parks in Uganda, I don’t even understand why she would tweet such a statement. But to your question, there’s none in Kampala.

The good gal You should be included on the list of people who discovered Uganda. Ain’t you surprised we wear clothes too . Mbu African tourist vlogger kamanyoko please.

Narsh GraceYou will be surprised to know that we have lakes, rivers ,mountains, tea estates, sugar plantations, nice lodges, cars, good food, primates, the big five, hospitable people, beautiful towns, amazing city night life, great music and that it’s not always as you think it is.

Senyange Wilfred Am so ashamed that an African Travel Vlogger is surprised at what the pearl of Africa has to offer. A real vlogger reads about the region. Even the smallest country offers game drives. Actually this is mockery and disrespectful.  You should delete the tweet @misstrudy_

PaYa As a Kenyan travel vlogger , it’s sad for you to say you didn’t know they’re game drives in Uganda. So you thought tourists just walk in the National parks or we don’t have any. Isn’t research one of the basic things as a vlogger? I am disappointed in you Trudy. This was pathetic

Owoyesigyire According to last year’s Kenya tourism report, Ugandans ranked second in supporting the Kenyan tourism industry. This suggests that many Ugandans are more aware of the tourism offerings in Kenya compared to those in Uganda.
