FAITH KIPYEGON AWARDED HONORARY DOCTOR OF EDUCATION DEGREE
Three-time Olympic 1,500m champion Faith Kipyegon has added another accolade to her illustrious career.
She was conferred with an Honorary Doctor of Education degree during the 13th graduation ceremony of the University of Eldoret. The event celebrated her outstanding achievements in athletics and her role in inspiring the next generation. Speaking after receiving the honour, Dr. Faith Kipyegon said, “I am greatly honoured to receive an honorary Doctorate degree in Education from The University of Eldoret.”
Kipyegon demonstrated extraordinary performance, despite starting her season later than usual due to an injury. Initially set to compete at the Diamond League events in Xiamen and the Prefontaine Classic, she was forced to withdraw to focus on her recovery. She made her season debut at the Kenyan Olympic trials, securing victories in both the 1,500m and 5,000m races.
Faith’s season gained momentum at the Diamond League Meeting in Paris, where she shattered her own world record in the 1,500m, clocking an astounding 3:49.04. She carried this form to the Paris Olympic Games, earning a silver medal in the 5,000m and clinching her third Olympic gold medal in the 1,500m.
Her winning streak continued at the Diamond League Meeting in Rome, where she dominated the field, and she later secured the coveted Diamond Trophy at the finals in Brussels. Kipyegon wrapped up her phenomenal season with a victory at the Athlos NYC, further solidifying her status as one of the greatest middle-distance runners of all time.
