‘IT’S PROVOCATION’ ESTHER PASSARIS CONDEMNS SHOE-THROWING INCIDENT AT PRESIDENT RUTO
Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has strongly condemned the recent incident where a shoe was thrown at President William Ruto during his visit to Migori County, calling it an act of provocation rather than legitimate protest.
In a statement, on her X account, Passaris wrote, “Throwing a shoe at the President is not protest, it’s provocation. I strongly condemn the unfortunate incident in Migori. This disgraceful act by a lone agitator does not reflect the values or aspirations of Kenyans.”
Passaris urged citizens to remain focused on national progress, stating, “Let us not allow such distractions to derail our focus as a resilient nation, led by a President who remains committed and undeterred in his service to the people. We must rise above hate and thrive through peace.”
She also criticised media coverage of the event, saying, “One lone detractor, and you call it a ‘hostile reception’? A shoe is thrown at the President and your headline trivialises it as though it were entertainment? This isn’t journalism. It’s a dangerous distortion that undermines both leadership and national unity.“
