Award-winning Bongo Flava artist Zuchu has publicly called out the organisers of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) and their contracted agency for failing to pay her for a headline performance delivered over two weeks ago.

The singer took to her social media platforms to address the Confederation of African Football (CAF) directly, detailing the non-payment for her performance at the tournament’s closing ceremony, which took place on August 30, 2025, at the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya.

In a statement addressed to CHAN and @caf_online, Zuchu stated that her agreement with the organisers, facilitated by LEAP Creative Agency (@leapcreativestudio), stipulated that the “full balance for my services was due upon completion of the event.” Despite this, she and her management team have not received the outstanding payment, continuous patience, and understanding” and numerous follow-ups.

Zuchu’s management reported being in constant communication with various members of the LEAP agency, including its CEO, Mr. Roshan Soomarshun. The situation was worsened when provided Proof of Payments (POPs) turned out to be “unverifiable, suspicious and clearly not sent or paid out.”

I have upheld my end of the agreement by delivering a performance that I dedicated myself fully to ensure it met the highest standards. It is highly disappointing to find that the same level of professionalism has not been extended in return,Zuchu’s statement reads.

The artist said the personal sacrifice made for the event, noting she had “dropped previously booked shows” to honour the CHAN 2024 finale commitment. She describes the delay as “not only unfair but also completely unacceptable” and has demanded the balance be “settled immediately without any further delay.”

Failure to pay, Zuchu has stated that she will have “no choice but to pursue further action to recover the funds owed.”
