SONKO DISCLOSES HIS DAUGHTER WAS TREATED FOR BIPOLAR DISORDER AT SAME REHAB AS KIMANI MBUGUA

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has made a public revelation about his daughter, Saumu Mbuvi, disclosing that she was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and successfully treated in Mombasa Women Empowerment Network Mental Rescue Center for the condition.

Sonko spoke during journalist Kimani Mbugua’s burial addressing his efforts to support the journalist and former boxer Conjestina Achieng‘, who have both been public about their mental health struggles.

In an emotional statement, Sonko said, “What I want to tell people is that my own daughter, Saumu, has the same condition. It is not that I didn’t have the money to take my daughter for treatment in London, the U.S. or India. I took her to Mama Amina, and she was treated alongside Kimani and Conjestina. I did this so that people don’t think I went to dump them in the facility.”

He further expressed his simpathy for the families affected, adding, “What my family has gone through is also what Kimani’s family went through. I thank God my daughter, Conjestina, and Eunice Omollo are all well.”
