Samsung Electronics has officially launched the Galaxy S26 series, marking the next step in mobile artificial intelligence. The new lineup comprising the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra is designed to streamline everyday tasks through proactive and adaptive AI capabilities, allowing the technology to work seamlessly in the background.

According to Samsung, the devices represent the company’s third generation of AI-powered smartphones, built to reduce the effort required for daily activities such as content creation, information retrieval, and communication.

Our goal with the Galaxy S26 series is to make AI feel effortless,” said Evelyne Munene, Head of Product and Marketing for the Mobile Experience Division at Samsung Electronics East Africa. “We want users to focus on what matters most to them while the technology handles the complexity behind the scenes.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra introduces what Samsung describes as the industry’s first built-in Privacy Display, offering users enhanced control over screen visibility in public spaces. The feature limits side-angle viewing when activated, helping protect sensitive information without compromising display quality.

Under the hood, the S26 Ultra is powered by a customised Snapdragon® 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform, delivering significant improvements in processing speed, graphics, and AI performance. The device also features an upgraded vapor chamber for improved heat management, ensuring consistent performance during demanding tasks such as gaming or video recording.

The camera system across the series has been enhanced to perform better in low-light conditions, with wider apertures and improved Nightography capabilities for video. A new professional-grade video codec, APV, debuts on the S26 Ultra, catering to advanced creators who require high-quality editing workflows.

On the software side, the Photo Assist suite now allows users to edit images using natural language prompts. Tasks such as changing the time of day in a photo or removing unwanted objects can be done with simple text commands. The Creative Studio feature also enables users to generate visuals from sketches or prompts without switching between apps.

The Galaxy S26 series introduces features like Now Nudge, which offers contextual suggestions based on ongoing conversations or calendar entries. For instance, if a friend requests photos from a recent trip, the device can automatically surface relevant images from the gallery.

Circle to Search with Google has also been upgraded to recognise multiple objects within a single image, making it easier to search for items such as clothing or accessories simultaneously.

Users can interact with the device through upgraded voice assistants, including Bixby, Gemini, and Perplexity, allowing for multi-step tasks to be completed with simple voice commands. Samsung has integrated multiple layers of protection into the new devices.

Privacy Alerts notify users when apps attempt to access sensitive data, while the Private Album feature allows photos and videos to be hidden directly within the Gallery without requiring a separate login. The Galaxy S26 series also includes post-quantum cryptography for critical system processes, strengthening device security against future threats.

Samsung Knox continues to serve as the foundation for on-device data protection, with the Personal Data Engine enabling personalised AI experiences while keeping user information encrypted and secure.
