ERIC OMONDI TOPS KENYA INFLUENCERS WITH SH57 MILLION EARNINGS
According to newly released industry data, Kenyan comedian Eric Omondi was the highest-earning digital content creator in 2025, with estimated earnings of Sh57 million.
A study conducted by Odipo Dev reveals that Omondi topped the revenue list through various brand collaborations, highlighting the increasing commercialisation of Kenya’s online content industry.
Last year, the country’s top influencers collectively earned Sh296 million, while total payments to creators exceeded Sh1.07 billion pointing to the sector’s growing economic weight.
The report identifies entertainment, especially comedy, as the most profitable content niche, with creators capitalising on strongfan loyalty to secure recurring brand deals.
Businesses in sectors like beauty, food and beverage, telecoms, and finance are steadily moving their ad spending toward digital channels, with small and medium enterprises driving most influencer partnerships. That said, the study also points out a disconnect between audience size and actual earnings, particularly on TikTok, where many creators find it difficult to turn views into revenue.
Instagram continues to be the top platform for generating income, while Facebook offers modest returns. Since direct platform earnings remain limited, most Kenyan creators continue to depend heavily on brand deals and other outside sources of income. Analysts suggest that improving how creators make money and increasing access to brand partnerships will be essential as the creator economy pushes past the Sh1 billion mark.
