WILLIS RABURU REVEALS WHY HE’S VYING FOR KISUMU SENATOR

Media personality turned politician Willis Raburu has opened up about his decision to run for Kisumu Senator, stating that his motivation is the same one that drove him to leave the popular 10/10 show on Citizen TV which is creating space for young people.

Raburu, 40, acknowledged that the race includes seasoned political heavyweights but argued that a generational shift is long overdue. “In the senator position we have Anyang’ Nyong’o who got in when he was 67, Fred Outa got in when he was 55, and Professor Tom Ojienda who was in his 50s,” Raburu said.

When I am elected to be the senator of Kisumu, I will be the youngest because I’m 40. But the reason why I want to go there is the same reason why I left 10 over 10. Once we break the 40 ceiling, it means I have opened up for the next guy to be 35 years.” Raburu further stated that his generation must deliver results to justify the trust placed in them.

You have got to go and do a good job so that they don’t say, ‘We gave you guys a chance and you let us down.‘” Adding, “Like my former boss used to say, excellence is not an event – it is a way of life. Do it consistently. Every professional you know is just an amateur who did it consistently.”
