‘Siwezi Kubali Kuwachwa’ Governor Waiguru Refutes Reports of Separation from Husband Kamotho
Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has dismissed recent social media claims that she and her husband, Kamotho Waiganjo, have quietly separated.
The rumours were ignited by a post from user Mutai Dominic, which detailed the couple’s love story from their first meeting in 2009 during the constitution-making process, to their engagement on February 16, 2019 at Lord Erroll Hotel in Nairobi. The post suggested that the high-profile couple had gone their separate ways.
But Governor Waiguru shut down the speculation. Taking to her official X (formerly Twitter) account, the Governor addressed the author of the post directly with an unapologetic response: “Ati nimewachwa? Siwezi kubali kuwachwa na hii baridi yote ya Gichugu @kamothowaiganjo.” Translated from Swahili, the statement reads: “So you’re saying I have been left? I cannot accept being left, especially with all this cold weather of Gichugu.”
In July 2019, the Kirinyaga Governor exchanged vows with prominent city lawyer in a traditional ceremony held at Kiamugumo Primary School. Among the 2000 guests who attended the lavish function are; Amina Mohamed and Sabina Chege among others.
