Kelvin Kinuthia and Johny The Hairdresser Face Backlash After Admitting They Use Ladies’ Toilets
Content creator Elodie Zone has added her voice to the ongoing debate surrounding the use of female restrooms by men, following revelations by content creator Kelvin Kinuthia and hair stylist Johny the Hairdresser that they use women’s washrooms.
The disclosure sparked reactions online, and Elodie is now calling for a structured approach to bathroom access in Kenya. In a video address, she proposed that Kenya adopt a bathroom arrangement similar to what she says is practised in Canada, where facilities include separate washrooms for men and women alongside an additional option open to anyone.
“I think Kenya should do what Canada does. You have men’s bathrooms, women’s bathrooms, and anyone that is not one of them,” she said. “I understand that they don’t feel safe in men’s bathrooms. Genuinely, I actually understand. And if they were my sons, I would get it.“
However, she was firm in her concerns about safety, particularly for young girls. “There is no way in hell I am sending my six-year-old daughter to use the bathroom when there is a man in the next store,” she stated.
Elodie also warned that the situation is open to abuse, pointing to the prevalence of sexual violence in the country. “Why this is so dangerous is because you know men are going to abuse this. That’s what’s even more shameful about the situation, they’ve made such a statement knowing a weirdo, because it’s always men, is going to completely abuse this. And don’t we have enough rape cases going on?“
She referenced recent cases of sexual violence, including the shocking case of policemen who raped a three-year-old, “Have a bathroom for biological males, biological females, and then anybody else that is going to come up with something new.“
