By  |

Parrot Group, a company which was contracted to offer services to Pamoja Festival held at Ngong’ Race Course Waterfront on October 30, 2021 has issued a statement on claims that they switched off the sound.

In a statement, the company acknowledged switching off the sound after a misunderstanding with the event organiser over payments. “As service providers, we encourage promoters to honour their commitments to service providers in order for all involved workforce in an event; casual labourers, sound and screen technicians, security to receive their dues on time as well.

Having said that, we acknowledge switching off the sound after a night that turned out to be a goose chase between our management and the event organiser for the Pamoja Festival event in pursuit of our balance per the agreement signed. We strongly advise Kenyan promoters in our industry to support our own and sell Kenya to the world. We remain committed in providing quality and reliable services to our esteemed customers and partners,” the company said.

Jamaican reggae dancehall vocalist Shauna ‘Etana’ McKenzi was the main performer at the event. Local performers lineup included Wyre, Naiboi, Gravity Band, , DJ Chroniqs, VJ Chacha, DJ Tush, DJ Mash, Kris Darling Gravity Band, Double Trouble, Trenchtown, DJ Riley, Brownskin gal among others. Wyre and Gravity Band who were set to curtain raise for Etana never took to stage over payment issues. “What I know is that Wyre and Gravity were supposed to be paid but that didn’t happen and so they opted not to perform,” Nation quoted a source privy to the matter. Naiboi also failed to perform.
