By  |

Raila Odinga’s youngest daughter Winnie Odinga has opened up on the loss of his elder brother Fidel Odinga who passed away in 2015.

Speaking on Iko Nini Podcast, Winnie said she had to learn to live without him, “You don’t get over it, it is just something you learn to live with, but there are tough times when some people are playing around with me and I am just like if my brother was here, you will be dealt with but its a difficult thing.

I don’t want to think about him because it is too much pain. You deal with a lot of stuff. Some days you are okay, others you start crying. The grieving process is different for everybody. The only way out is to go through it.

She also added that she had to go for therapy, “When he died I didn’t cry, I started crying when we were burying him. When you are doing a funeral they’re just so many guys you don’t feel it. It is after the body is buried and you are there with family that’s when you feel it.

I went through the worst depression when he died, my sister in law took me to a therapist, I started talking and now I have three. One is for relationship issues, the other daddy issues and the third a different thing.”

She revealed she was named after Winnie Mandela, I was named after Winnie Mandela, I have six names Winnie Imgad Akoth Neema Odinga Kazi, you know jang’os you have to be named after prominent people.
