MIGUNA MIGUNA MOURNS THE PASSING OF RAILA ODINGA

The country is plunged into a state of national mourning following the announcement of the passing of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. The iconic opposition leader and statesman passed away at the age of 80 while undergoing treatment in India.

Known by many as “Baba, Mzee and Jakom, Raila was a defining figure in Kenyan politics for over three decades. His passing marks the end of a significant chapter in the nation’s history.

Prominent lawyer and commentator Ahmednasir Abdullahi eulogized him as “the most consequential politician in Kenya in the past three decades,” a sentiment echoed by millions across the country. He noted that Odinga’s departure leaves “few enemies, some allies and many orphans” in the political scene.

Condolences have poured in from all corners. Activist Boniface Mwangi shared his sympathies to the family, stating, “Mzee amepumzika. His watch is over.Mwangi also reflected on the future, expressing hope in a new generation that will “liberate Kenya from the shackles of bad leadership and corruption.

Former ally and lawyer Miguna Miguna offered his condolences, simply stating, “Yes, I have just heard the sad news. Our condolences to the family of @RailaOdinga Rest in peace, Jakom.”

For countless Kenyans, like citizen Geoffrey Mosiria, the loss is deeply personal. “I have no words to explain this, but truly, Baba was a good person, and now he is no more,” he shared.
