MARAGA PLEDGES 50 PERCENT WOMEN REPRESENTATION IN HIS GOVERNMENT

Former Chief Justice David Maraga, the Presidential Flag Bearer for the United Green Movement (UGM), has announced a historic commitment to ensure 50 percent representation for women in his government if elected. 

The pledge was made during his address at the UGM National Women League Convention, reigniting his longstanding advocacy for gender equality and constitutionalism.

In 2020, during his tenure as Chief Justice, he made a landmark move by advising then-President Uhuru Kenyatta to dissolve Parliament for its persistent failure to enact the two-thirds gender rule. 

Speaking to party members and supporters, Maraga framed this promise not just as a policy, but as a core principle of his campaign, “We all have to be part of this movement for integrity and true inclusion.”
