Kenyan content creator Gadwilliam Kiragu Kimani has revealed that he declined a lucrative Sh800,000 partnership offer from a prominent betting firm, choosing personal integrity and long-term brand reputation over a substantial payday.

Kimani disclosed that the betting company reached out to him last year with an attractive proposal. While the financial reward was tempting, he ultimately decided that the firm’s values did not align with his own. Speaking about the decision, Kimani shared a conversation he had with his father at the time.

Last year at my peak, there is a betting brand that reached out. They wanted to pay Sh800,000. I showed my dad the email and told my dad, ‘Let me do it once. I will not do it again,'” Kimani recounted. His father’s response gave him pause. “He said, ‘Once you take that direction, you have chosen something different, and you will have to serve it.'”

Kimani took time to reflect on the advice. He considered the long-term implications of associating his brand with gambling, even for a one-time campaign. In the end, he walked away from the deal. “I thought about it,” he said, adding that he is currently working with 10 other brands whose values better match his own.
