SKATER KEVIN KIARIE WINS DOUBLE GOLD AT AFRICAN SKATING CHAMPIONSHIP IN CAIRO

Kevin Kiarie has done it again. Barely a month after defying the odds to win gold and silver at the International Skating Challenge in Benin, the Kenyan roller skater has conquered the continent, claiming gold at the African Skating Championship in Cairo, Egypt.

Competing against elite skaters from across Africa, Kiarie delivered a stunning performance to secure the top spot on the podium, further cementing his reputation as the continent’s finest.  “African Champion: Double Gold for Kenya in Freestyle Battle Championship and Classic Slalom Skating at the African Skating Championships 2026,” he said.

The victory marks a remarkable turnaround for an athlete who, just weeks earlier, travelled to Benin without a major sponsor, federation support, or funding relying solely on personal resources and sheer belief.

Following his Cairo triumph, President William Ruto extended a personal congratulatory message to Kiarie.Well done Kevin Kiarie on winning gold at the African Skating Championship in Cairo, Egypt. This is a proud moment for you and for our nation. You have conquered the continent and your journey is an inspiration to many aspiring sportsmen and women in Kenya and Africa. I am confident that your talent, drive, and competitive spirit will carry you further onto the global stage. Congratulations, and keep flying our flag high.”

Kiarie’s journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. After his Benin victory last month, he shared an emotional post, “I had every reason to quit… But I didn’t. Now I’m holding 🥇🇰🇪. This one is for everyone with no support. No support. Still gold 🥇. No sponsors. No funding. Just belief. This is what happens when you refuse to quit. 🇰🇪 Imagine what’s next… 👀 Follow the journey.”
