The National Museums of Kenya (NMK) has officially opened the tender process for the construction of the proposed Raila Odinga mausoleum.
In a tender notice published on Tuesday, June 16, NMK called on qualified and reputable contractors to submit bids for the Ksh30 million project, which is aimed at preserving and celebrating the historical legacy of the former prime minister.
According to the notice, the scope of work includes the construction of a new mausoleum dedicated to the late opposition leader, as well as renovation works at the Jaramogi Mausoleum, the final resting place of Kenya’s first Vice President, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.
The facility will house a research centre, library, digital archives and an amphitheatre, with management shared in part by the National Museums of Kenya.
The tender announcement follows the government’s pledge to construct the mausoleum, with work expected to commence before the end of June 2026. Once completed, the facility will serve as a lasting tribute to the Raila’ s contributions to the nation.
The mausoleum will be situated adjacent to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Mausoleum at Kang’o ka Jaramogi, the burial site of the late Raila.
