Politician and musician Charles Njagua, popularly known as Jaguar, has reached out to fellow musician Marya with a donation of KSh 100,000 to support her ongoing recovery following a stroke.
Jaguar, accompanied musician Colonel Mustafa, visited Marya at her home on Thursday, October 15, 2026, after recently seeing her perform alongside Mustafa at his 25-year milestone concert.
Speaking during the visit, the former Starehe MP explained that he had previously assisted Marya when she first fell ill but had assumed she had fully recovered.
“We are here to visit our sister Marya who has been unwell for a long time,” Jaguar said. “When she became sick the first time, Avril called me and I supported her and I thought she got well until I saw her with Mustafa performing” .
He noted that Marya’s needs extend beyond medical treatment, including physiotherapy, rent obligations, and the cost of a caregiver for her son.
“She needs physiotherapy, rent and support of a day care giver,” he stated. “Together with my friend Mwenda, we have supported her with cash for physiotherapy, for nanny and pay rent for 3 months”.
The donation will also cover a therapist visiting Marya three times a week as she continues her rehabilitation journey. Marya, best known for her 2010 hit “Chokoza” featuring Avril, suffered an stroke in May 2025 that left the left side of her body paralysed. She has since been undergoing intensive physiotherapy, which she has described as both physically painful and financially overwhelming .
