Dr. Ofweneke Challenges Kenyans to Hold Leaders Accountable for Reckless Speech Ahead of 2027 Polls
TV host and comedian Dr. Ofweneke has called out political leaders, accusing them of making reckless and irresponsible remarks that could incite violence and political divisions among Kenyans as the country heads toward the 2027 General Election.
In a viral video, Dr. Ofweneke urged ordinary citizens to take a stand against the toxic political environment. “Kenyan leaders and politicians, shame on you! You guys are gonna make us fight,” Dr. Ofweneke said in the video. “I want to challenge my fellow citizens. We have to now start holding accountable our leaders, whichever camp you’re in. Those in camp one term better start holding your leaders in check in terms of the words that come out of their mouth. Those ones who are team two terms, you might as well also hold your leaders accountable.”
The media personality, expressed his frustration with the continuous cycle of political bickering that has dominated public, “You leaders, can you be cautious enough about the words that are coming out of your mouth? You guys cannot be this shameless. We are tired,” he said. “Can we just wake up for a day where there is no politics? Can we just have a day where we can rest? We’ve been doing politics ever since, and there’s nothing important you guys are telling us, all of you.”
Dr. Ofweneke condemned the political class, describing their speech as filled with “hatred after hatred, inciting, venom and nothing else.” “We are not going to fight because of you guys,” he asserted. “Some of you, what time even spend with your wives and your children? Bunch of gossipers in big cars. You are an embarrassment to this country.”
The remarks come at a time of heightened political tension in Kenya, with early campaigns and realignments already underway more than a year before the 2027 elections.
