MERCY MASIKA SAYS GOSPEL MUSIC IS NO LONGER ABOUT INSPIRATION BUT BUSINESS

By  |

UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador and Gospel artist Mercy Masika has called out musicians for ruining gospel music. The Mwema hitmaker feels that the music landscape has shifted to the bad side and she’s not the only one with these sentiments.

The reason much of today’s music lacks inspiration and memorability is that people have blurred the lines and turned music into too much of a business,” Mercy writes on her latest post.

She reiterates that there’s more to music and that courage is required, “It takes moral courage to remain true to inspire, impact and be true to who you are called to be.”

However, she admits that being true is not the easiest road to take, “And even though remaining true may sometimes take time to pay. It pays very well. There’s a confidence that comes from being true.”

Reverend Kathy Kiuna chimed in on Mercy’s post, writing, “Preach today. Nothing but the truth.” Gospel singer Ben Cyco and media personality Joyce Omondi also strongly agree with Mercy’s sentiments, adding their comments on the post, “Truth right there! 💯”
